Project Objectives
Our Client , after being approached by a long-term customer to provide a contract fleet covering 13 source locations and 140 destinations nationwide, including guaranteed shipments and the option to add ad hoc shipments, our client requested an analysis of the opportunity. The objective is to thoroughly assess the contract, particularly focusing on the profitability of the ad hoc shipments.
Client Overview
Our client, a Transport service provider provides dedicated contact fleets as well as ad hoc shipment management to their client base.
Project Approach
Meet with the client's team to gain a clear understanding of the contract requirements.
Analyze and evaluate the transportation request for the contract.
Develop a Phase 1 simulation model based on high-level assumptions to produce initial directional results.
Present these preliminary results and discuss additional details that could be integrated into the simulation model.
Build a more detailed Phase 2 model and share the detailed results and gather feedback for final adjustments.
Refine the model to align with the customer's needs before delivering a comprehensive truck requirement plan to guide their truck purchases and route planning
Project Results
A clearly defined contact strategy was established.
Budget targets for the contract were successfully set.
Ad hoc shipment opportunities were clearly articulated.
